Harry Potter, sports and more

Cameron is one incredibly busy guy. He's now a big third grader! That alone can be a bit mind blowing. Earlier in the year, Cameron announced he wanted to be Harry Potter for Halloween and he wanted to grow his hair out. We said go for it and he now sports an incredibly thick shrub head.

School is going well for Cam. He enjoys math but he really loves reading and writing. He and mom spent the last year reading all seven books of Harry Potter. He also enjoyed the Diary of a Wimpy kid series. Those books spurred his interest in writing with a really conversational style and he even figured out how to draw characters just like the book.

In the last year, Cameron expanded his joy of piano playing. He is a natural at hearing a song. He has returned from piano lessons with the week's songs already memorized. Cameron also had a chance to take part in three different week-long theater camps. In his favorite, he got to play Ferb in a Phineas and Ferb camp. He did a fabulous job acting and even singing and dancing!

This year was very sports focused as well. Cameron ran in his first official

race during the St. Louis Go! races. He took part in a half-mile race with other kids his age and earned a medal! Cameron completed his last year in coach-pitch baseball. It's AMAZING how much easier it is to catch and hit the ball when you have glasses that let you see! (He got glasses right after baseball season last year.) Cameron also really caught on to the fun of soccer and football. He plays with an indoor program for both sports. Add in his weekly piano class, and he's scheduled five out of seven days a week. Ask Cameron, and he'll tell you that he loves it all. He actually wrote about his activities on his blog. He says he wants to write more on the site in the coming year.

Cameron says the higlights of 2010 include the time we spent in North Carolina. He got to climb and explore a mountain stream and had all kinds of fun. He absolutely LOVED sleeping with the dinosaurs at the Field Museum. The kids and mom had an incredible adventure enjoying the museum at night. They got to learn about T-Rex dinosaurs and even listen to bedtime stories near Sue the T-Rex. Another highlight? Competing with his Grandpa Lee in an ice cream eating contest in Maine. They tied!!
